About Jennifer Shaw

I have had my Early Childhood Education Certificate for almost 20 years. I returned to school to be a Kindergarden teacher but I found that I really missed watching the toddlers learn how to problem solve, and observe the 3 year old scientists understand the purpose of a slug—to help guide them to a path of self-discovery.

I have passions in a variety of teaching philosophies!

In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.

Nature does not hurry,

yet everything is accomplished.

Montessori: is amazing! Montessori sees freedom as the single most important factor in allowing children to develop as spontaneous, creative individuals. It sees the role of education as providing environments in which the children could be set free to follow their natural impulses to become the wonderfully dynamic, natural learners they were designed to be.

Waldorf:  just makes me smile  It is  an environment that encourages the child’s imitative power and openness to the world, an environment that strengthens and supports the child through meaningful activity, predictable rhythms in the day, week, and year - - through objects and toys of beauty that leaves room for activity and imagination.

Reggio Emilia:  is a journey of exploration! Having faith that children have the intuition to create, explore and philosophise. It uses clay and nature and paint. Lets the children take the lead and enjoy an amazing time growing.

These are the inspirations I have adopted! I want to introduce children to clay, different kinds of raw materials, and art appreciation.  I want to guide the children to search for their inspirations, encouraging them to create! Let’s play instruments or write stories. My goal is to document a child's achievements so my children's parents can see inside their child’s mind, heart, and soul.
